SENIOR Designer

Seeking a driven, self-motivated, and established creative leader to join our close-knit KMID team as a Senior Designer. You have years of experience at top-tier firm(s), and you’ve reached a point in your career trajectory where you’re ready to further leverage your deep industry knowledge, creative voice, and leadership skills to take it to the next level. This position provides the right individual a collaborative runway for personal and professional growth as well as the opportunity to play a pivotal role in the growth of the KMID brand.

The Senior Designer is responsible for fostering strong client and build team relationships by becoming a trusted partner and effectively leading all design phases of projects, from establishing the creative vision through execution and implementation. Success in this role is clients and industry partners commending your ability to deliver the creative vision and project intent while having the utmost respect for the roles of all involved. Their experience working with you should exceed expectations and result in repeat business – and ultimately – firm growth.

You will report directly to our owner and Principal Designer and provide support in all aspects of the job. It is a 40 hour/week full-time position M-F in our Winchester, MA office.

Who we are:

We are a Boston-based design firm with 20 years in the business specializing in high-end residential interiors and management of complex construction projects collaborating with high-caliber build teams (both locally and out-of-state). With a roster of exciting, large-scale projects on the horizon, we need someone with extensive industry knowledge who can dive right in and make an immediate impact.

Who you are / skills required:

  • 7-10 years of experience in a high-end residential design firm to include leading large-scale construction projects from inception to completion

  • Confident leadership of a design team while being collaborative in nature and delegating tasks; can manage both up and down

  • Possess an “I’m here to learn from everyone” perspective while simultaneously mentoring employees and imparting your knowledge to foster their individual growth

  • Full accountability and ownership for your work is a must, but the ability to receive feedback is paramount

  • Excellent communicator and relationship builder who is personable, confident, and professional 

  • Highly organized, proactive and resourceful and embody a confident, approachable, professional demeanor

  • Efficient orchestrator possessing finesse; you can keep the project moving and organized while simultaneously communicating key details, dates, and deadlines across the larger team (KMID, architects, builders, vendors, etc.) 

  • A master of time management who can move quickly, shift gears with ease, and juggle multiple tasks at once with an ‘I got this’ attitude 

  • Thick skinned and assertive when you need to be (your feathers aren’t easily ruffled when navigating challenging conversations with vendors)

  • Flexible, adaptable, and able to keep up with a fast-paced, demanding, client-service industry

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, etc.), in any of the following drafting software: AutoCAD, Sketchup, Revit. Studio Designer knowledge is a plus but not required

  • Working knowledge of Adobe Suite (specifically Photoshop) to assist with presentation boards and general image editing for proposals

This position will be responsible for: 

  • Leading complex design projects from inception to completion; this includes being the voice of the firm and “project integrator” for the client, build team and key vendors

  • Spearheading schematic design discussions with the team to include defining the creative spirit of the project, sourcing architectural elements, fixtures, finishes, and furnishings

  • Being KMID boots on the ground on jobs sites, communicating our vision to the build team and shepherding the client through the process

  • Executing design drawings as needed - to include floor plans, elevations, sections, and custom furniture drawings. Proficient in SketchUp (a plus for working knowledge of AutoCAD or Revit)

  • Overseeing project details and maintaining specification schedules with an acute eye for details

  • Preparing for client presentations, installations, and photoshoots

  • Providing support on project photoshoots and installations

  • Communicating with clients and vendors via email, phone, and during client presentations and site meetings

Logistics:

  • This position will require travel (local, New England Area, and some out-of-state) to job sites. Must have a valid US driver's license, car ownership is a necessity.

  • Available to start ASAP and work full-time, Monday through Friday, 

9 AM to 5 PM at the KMID office in Winchester, MA.

Perks & Benefits:

The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $100,000 and is dependent on the candidate’s experience prior to joining KMID. In addition, we offer the following benefits:
